Ramadan Mubarak! I wish for you a blessed, happy, and successful Ramadan in which all of your good dua are answered swiftly and without delay.

Here are some sunnah we can follow to, in sha Allah, have a beneficial Ramadan.

1.) Set your intention to fast every day.

“Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended.” [Sahih al Bukhari]

This is an important way to make sure that you are fasting for the right reasons. You can also benefit by intending to fast to seek reward from Allah.

“He who observes fasting during the month of Ramadan with faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

2.) Eat (and DELAY!) your suhoor!

Make sure to eat your suhoor. Also, delay it as close as possible to fair time. (Recommended: 15 minutes [or less] prior to fajr begin eating and drinking.)

The prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was reported to have said, “Take suhoor, for in suhoor there is blessing.” [An nasai]

Zaid bin Thabit said; “We took Sahur with the Messenger of Allah then we went to pray.” I asked the Prophet (ﷺ):”How long was there between Adhan and Suhur?” He was reported to have said: «As long as it takes a man to recite fifty verses» (Bukhari). Sahl bin Sa`d said: “I used to take my Suhur meals with my family and then hurry up for the (Fajr) prayer with Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)”(Bukhari). This shows that there are only a few minutes between Suhur and Fajr prayer.

3.) Make dua with certainty that you will be answered.

“Indeed there is for the fasting person, when he breaks his fast, a supplication which is not rejected”. (Ibn Majah, al-Hakim)

It may take time but you will be answered so be patient! 🙂

4.) Break your fast with a date and then pray maghrib after.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to break his fast before praying with some fresh dates

Sunan Abi Dawud

After eating the date and praying you should have your main meal. Allahu alim.

5.) Hasten to break your fast!!!

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is reported to have  said

The people will continue to prosper as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast.

Sahih Muslim

This means that the moment you realize it is time to eat do so immediately!

6.) Give up bad deeds, gossip/slander/backbiting, etc.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reported to have said

Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink

Sahih al-Bukhari

7.) Respond to rude/mean/angry people kindly and calmly.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reported to have said

If a person fights him or insults him, let him say, ‘I am fasting,’

Sunan an-Nasa’i
